Rep. John James announced the inclusion of $1,120,000 in Community Project Funding for the South River Multi-Use Path in Harrison Township. The funding is part of the House Appropriations bills and aims to extend the path by an additional 1.5 miles, connecting over 1,000 homes and three schools to the existing path system.
James emphasized the importance of fitness and mental health in his statement: "Fitness and mental health are key to a balanced lifestyle, and the Freedom Trail provides a safe and beautiful environment to tackle both of these issues right here in our community," he said. "I look forward to getting this project across the finish line."
The South River Multi-Use Path, also known as the Freedom Trail, was initiated by Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller in the early 1990s and has been expanded over time.
