Congressman John James | Rep. John James Official U.S House Headshot
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative John James of Michigan's 10th Congressional District celebrated the passing of his Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution in the House. The resolution aims to overturn the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) joint employer rule implemented by the Biden Administration. This rule has placed an undue burden on companies, holding them liable for the actions of another business' employees, even if they have no direct oversight. The costs incurred by franchise and small businesses due to this rule have amounted to billions of dollars.
In response to the passing of the resolution, Rep. James expressed his gratitude and highlighted the importance of limiting government interference in business operations. He stated, "The American people don't want the government telling them how to start or manage a business. I hear too often from politicians talking about creating jobs—politicians can't create jobs, but they sure can kill them. And that's exactly what Joe Biden's joint employer rule is doing: killing jobs and killing the American Dream."
Rep. James emphasized the significance of his colleagues' support in providing a check on suffocating regulations. He acknowledged the vital role that small businesses play in the economy, as they have been instrumental in helping millions, including his own family, achieve the American Dream. "Bureaucrats don't create jobs, businesses create jobs," he asserted proudly. Rep. James also pledged to continue fighting for the interests of small businesses not only in his district but across the country.
This achievement marks Rep. James' fourth legislative initiative to pass the House since assuming office. It is a testament to his commitment to serving the needs and aspirations of his constituents. The resolution text can be accessed by clicking here.
This victory in the House is a significant step towards overturning the joint employer rule and alleviating the burdensome regulations faced by businesses. By championing the American Dream and advocating for small businesses, Rep. James has shown his dedication to fostering a thriving economy and job growth.
