Many Warren residents have requested that Warren Police go beyond what the state law allows for police enforcement. I remind residents that they will have to tolerate increased late-night hours and days because state law supersedes local law and this was written with the lobbyist industry and the purpose is to generate more revenue and jobs for that industry. This supposedly benefits Michigan.
Warren Fireworks guideline: State Law as approved by the state legislature and fireworks lobbyist:
You are allowed to dispense fireworks from 11 AM- 11:45 PM
Legal from Thursday, June 29 thru Tuesday, July 5
Fines of anywhere from $1,000 may be given for the following*:
*Dispensing fireworks on a city street
*Allowing a minor to dispense fireworks
*Dispensing fireworks under the influence of alcohol/drugs
*Dispensing fireworks within 15 feet of neighbor’s property
*Selling fireworks to a minor
Warren Police and I hope you will enjoy the holiday, but not at the expense of public safety or at the expense of public tranquility. Have a great fourth and be safe! Try to practice a good neighbor policy and be considerate of people with pets, elderly people, people with young children, those with military PTSD, and those who must get up early for work on July 5th.
