Mayor’s Response That City Charter States That Mayor Has Final Authority Over City Budget if There Is an Impasse

Some people have asked about the lawsuits between me and the council. I started my lawsuit in February asking the court to clarify the rules of the process – which council has been ignoring. In response, the council filed its own suit last week, saying that they have the power to create a budget without any input from the mayor. In America, no branch of government is supreme, and no one branch has unchecked power. So, I disagree with the council’s take.
