City of Warren issued the following announcement on June 2.
Very disturbing, distressing, and unacceptable what happened in Minnesota earlier this week to George Floyd! In Warren we have trained our officers to respond differently by de-escalating any situation by communication rather then conflict. That training was done by the Warren Training Division and assisted by George Anthony, Diversity Director in January. I have spoken with Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer and WPOA President Mike Sauger and both offer the same positive comments about police proper training preparation. I have requested on-going training for our police officers so that they will respond in a positive non-confrontational manner to any situation that might lead to a deadly encounter. Our officers have been trained to take action if one officer does anything to endanger a human life. If they see something that is not acceptable they will immediately engage and change that situation. We have a great police department and one of the best in the state. Our officers care about others and they are here to serve all citizens with equal and respectful treatment. I want to keep it that way! Continuous training will keep it that way. In Warren we value ALL lives!
