Rep. John James, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 10th District since 2023, recently shared his views on social media regarding various legislative issues.
On June 14, Rep. James questioned the affordability of a potential tax increase for families in a tweet, "Can your family afford a 22% tax hike?" He emphasized that President Biden's proposed legislation, referred to as "One Big Beautiful Bill," aims to prevent this hike. According to him, it would save the average American family $1,700 and enhance the doubled Child Tax Credit for over 40 million families.
In another post dated June 15, Rep. James addressed Medicaid protection, emphasizing its importance for vulnerable groups such as "the elderly, disabled, pregnant women, children, and low-income families." He stated "When illegal aliens, able-bodied adults choosing not to work, and ineligible recipients get Medicaid", they divert funds from those who truly need them.
Further supporting small businesses through legislative measures was highlighted by Rep. James on June 17. He described "The One Big Beautiful Bill is a huge win for our small businesses!" This bill proposes making permanent the Small Business Deduction at 23% for about 30 million small businesses while renewing the Opportunity Zone program aimed at economic stimulation.
John James was born in Detroit in 1981 and currently resides in Farmington Hills.
