Rep. John James, representing Michigan's 10th Congressional District, recently discussed the ongoing United Auto Workers (UAW) strike in an interview with Bill Hemmer on Fox News. The strike has been affecting several Midwestern cities, including areas around his district.

James expressed his concerns about the impact of federal policies on the automotive industry and American workers. He stated, "The fight is not between the union and the Big Three. The fight is actually between the automotive industry and this bureaucracy in Washington D.C. that’s sending our paychecks to China and our jobs to Mexico."

He emphasized the need for a transition policy to electric vehicles that considers American auto workers: "We need to make sure that we have a policy in this EV [electric vehicle] transition that doesn't leave American auto workers behind," he said.

James criticized the current administration's approach, saying, "This administration doesn't care about the UAW. It doesn't care about the automotive industry. It cares about its climate change religion, and it has no idea what their policies are doing for average Americans who need to work to make a living."

He also highlighted the challenges faced by his constituents: "We need to have folks here who understand what it takes—people representing the 10th Congressional District, the number-one manufacturing district—to understand the implications of these actions."

James further commented on regulatory pressures: "The billions of dollars and penalties levied on the automotive industry for noncompliance, this EV comply-or-die [mandate] that's being pushed down by the D.C. bureaucracy from Joe Biden, doesn't care about working Americans, despite what they may tell you."
