Representative John James (MI-10) and House Education and Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) have joined other legislators to introduce a resolution to overturn the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) new joint employer rule. This rule imposes liability on companies for another business' employees, even if they do not directly oversee them.

In a statement, Rep. James expressed his concerns about the affordability crisis created by the Biden administration's policies and how the joint employer rule is driving businesses and jobs overseas. He stated, "I am proud to lead the effort in the House to introduce this resolution to overturn the hurtful joint employer rule."

Chairwoman Foxx also criticized President Biden's joint employer rule, stating that it will destroy the business model that has helped many achieve the American Dream. She emphasized that this rule means higher costs for consumers and fewer jobs for workers.

Republican Leader Mitch McConnell supported the resolution and criticized the joint employer regulation as an attack on small businesses and consumers. He stated, "Congress should act immediately to overturn this misguided Big Labor attack."

Senator Bill Cassidy argued that the joint employer rule undermines the franchise model that has empowered underrepresented groups, such as women and people of color, to create jobs and live the American dream. He emphasized the need to protect workers and foster economic opportunity.

Senator Joe Manchin also expressed his support for the resolution, highlighting the importance of the franchise system in driving entrepreneurship and economic growth. He criticized the Biden administration for imposing more regulations and red tape on small businesses and urged his colleagues to join the resolution.

Speaker Mike Johnson voiced his support for the resolution, stating that the joint employer rule is an attack on Main Street America and will destroy countless livelihoods. He emphasized that this rule will leave small business owners and working Americans with less freedom and autonomy.

The resolution is supported by organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Retail Federation. Glenn Spencer, Senior Vice President of Employment Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, applauded Representative James for pushing back against the NLRB's overreach. He stated that the joint employer rule will create chaos, harm employers and workers, and have collateral damage across the U.S. economy.

Ed Egee, Vice President of the National Retail Federation, also expressed support for the resolution, stating that the NLRB's rules will have a detrimental impact on the retail community, inhibiting job growth and free enterprise.

The introduction of this resolution is aimed at overturning the Biden administration's joint employer rule, which legislators argue is harmful to businesses, workers, and the American Dream.
