STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – On August 16, 2023, Rep. John James (MI-10) joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Macomb Chamber of Commerce for a business roundtable to discuss his record so far in Congress, underscore policy initiatives he’s championed to bolster our economy, and meet with local small business owners and leaders. Rep. James released the following statement upon the announcement:

“As a former businessman and CEO myself, I understand that jobs and economic development is the lifeblood of a community. I’m proud to represent an economic powerhouse of a district,” James said. “We are America’s number-one manufacturing district and the hub of this great nation’s vehicle and military industry. The hardworking men and women of Metro Detroit are the engine of our economy. My goal is to do everything I can to support them in that.”

During the event, Rep. James highlighted the pro-business, pro-growth policies he has championed in Washington:

  • Introducing the Reignite Hope Act, which provides a $3,500 tax credit to incentivize Americans to become nurses, caregivers, and public safety officers— sectors of the economy desperate for workers.
  • Co-sponsoring the REINS Act, which helps fight reckless federal spending and support fiscally-responsible policies that get our economy back on track.
  • Promoting the reshoring of American jobs and critical minerals to bring more jobs back to southeast Michigan and limit the Chinese Communist Party’s chokehold on our country.
  • Passing the Soo Locks Security and Economic Reporting Act to study the security and fortification of the locks, essential to our economy, trade, and industry.
  • Introducing the No American Tax Dollars to CCP Act, which ensures that corporations influenced by “foreign entities of concern,” like a Chinese Communist Party-backed company, do not benefit from American tax credits.
  • Working hard to bring a long-term fighter mission to Selfridge Air National Guard Base, a pillar of the local economy and community.
