Washington, D.C. – Rep. John James listened to eyewitness testimonies from two Ukrainian survivors of Russian war crimes at today’s House Foreign Affairs full committee hearing. The hearing exposed Vladimir Putin’s war crimes and other atrocities in Ukraine.
Witnesses included Serhii Kurbonov, a victim of the forcible transfer of children, and Olen Levytska, a victim of torture and sexual violence.
“Beyond the ivory tower discussions and debates about the war in Ukraine, real people are footing the bill for Putin’s aggression with their lives ,” James said. “There are families torn apart; women abused; children killed in the crossfire; babies orphaned; civilians executed. That’s the perspective we heard today. As a soldier, I’ve seen the terror of war and listening to Serhii and Olen’s candid testimony, I hope, is a wake-up call that we must stand by our allies .”
Rep. James has been a vocal supporter of the people of Ukraine, both at home and abroad.
