Free COVID-19 testing was recently available to interested residents of Warren, a release issued by WXYZ Detroit said.
The city of Warren joined forces with Wayne State University, the Wayne State University Physician Group and the Macomb County Health Department in an effort to provide drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing for free. The aim was to get everyone in the city tested.
“Hardly a day goes by that you don’t hear a horror story where one person goes into a group of people and they’re contagious," Warren Mayor Jim Fouts told WXYZ.
The testing was conducted on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Warren City Hall. Nasopharyngeal or nasal swab tests were available. Residents who were tested received their results in two days.
“I had the test," Fouts told WXYZ. "And it’s not the most comfortable thing, but it’s only a short period of time. Knowledge is good, and the sooner that everybody decides to be tested and follow the guidelines of science, the better we’ll all be.”
