City of Warren issued the following announcement on May 4.
Due to the State of Michigan’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order, the May 5, 2020 Special Election will be held primarily by mail. This change affects the following School Districts in Macomb County: Warren Woods Public Schools Voting by Mail (Absent Voter Ballot) To reduce face-to-face contact, voters are strongly encouraged to vote by mail for the May 5, 2020 Special Election. All eligible voters were mailed an absentee ballot application (the week of March 30th) along with a letter explaining how to vote by mail. Residents who register to vote for the May election will automatically be issued a ballot.
Voter Registration
In-Person Services Any voter registration form submitted between March 27, 2020 to May 5, 2020 will also serve as an absent voter ballot application. You will only be issued a ballot if you live in the Warren Woods Public School District, as they are the only school district having an election on May 5th.
In-Person Services
Although election services are deemed essential, many public offices are closed to the public or by appointment only. Please contact your clerk’s office before visiting. Also know that many election services can be completed online, via email, or by mail
Voter Registration After April 20, 2020
Any person who registers to vote within 14 days of the election must provide proof of residency. A copy of a proof of residency document can be submitted via mail or email to the Warren City Clerk's Office.
Voting Election Day
In person voting options are available, if necessary. Any voter who must vote in person should contact the Warren City Clerk’s Office to verify their polling place before going to their precinct. Your traditional polling place will not be open for the May 5, 2020 election.
