Warren Consolidated Schools issued the following announcement on April 27.
Cromie Elementary was recently named Top Overall School in the Macomb County Green Schools Program for 2019-2020, sponsored by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners and the Macomb Intermediate School District. This is the second consecutive year a Warren Consolidated school has received the Top Overall distinction.
The Macomb County Board of Commissioners honored 114 schools for achieving Official Michigan Green School status, with Warren Consolidated Schools being the largest school district to have participation from all of its schools.
Schools are eligible to receive Green, Emerald, or Evergreen designation based on their robust recycling programs and energy efficiency activities.
The following schools in the Warren Consolidated district earned designation in one of the following categories:
Green – Green Acres Elementary, Grissom Middle School, Harwood Elementary, Holden Elementary, and Sterling Heights High School
Emerald – Black Elementary, Butcher Educational Center (MMSTC), Carter Middle School, Community High School, and Wilde Elementary
Evergreen – Beer Middle School, Career Prep Center, Carleton Middle School, Cousino High School, Cromie Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary, Lean Elementary, Siersma Elementary, Susick Elementary, Warren Mott High School, Wilkerson Elementary, and Willow Woods “I am extremely proud of the hard-work and commitment by our Green Schools’ sponsors and students to become environmentally conscious citizens,” Chief Academic Officer John Bernia said. “The teachers who volunteer their time to make our Green Schools program so successful deserve to be commended.”
