Rep. John James, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan's 10th District since 2023, has posted a series of statements on X addressing the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on federal employees and military personnel.
On October 16, 2025, Rep. James wrote: "The Schumer Shutdown is forcing our federal law enforcement officers to work without pay. House Republicans did our job, now it's time for Senate Democrats to do their jobs.
Thankfully, @POTUS put people over politics, and made sure our troops got their pay.

Later that day, he added: "@POTUS I joined a letter urging pay for federal law enforcement personnel during the government shutdown. Read more

On October 17, 2025, Rep. James continued his criticism of Senate Democrats with another post: "The Democrat Shutdown is putting our service members and military families at risk for political theatrics.
@SenSchumer - enough is enough. Do the right thing for the American people and open the government. https://t.co/XAXQnxJVw6".
John James was born in Detroit in 1981 and currently resides in Farmington Hills. His recent social media activity reflects concerns about how the government shutdown affects both law enforcement officers and military families by delaying or withholding their pay.
