Rep. James Releases Statement Following 2024 State of the Union

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to America. Representative John James (MI-10) attended the event with former district court judge and founder of Families Against Narcotics (FAN), Linda Davis.

In response to his invitation of Linda Davis, Rep. James expressed, “I am so honored to have Linda Davis, a true fighter in the devastating drug epidemic, as my guest for the State of the Union tonight. Linda has been a critical ally in our shared mission to bring an end to the opioid and fentanyl crisis that is wreaking havoc on our communities."

Rep. James also highlighted his legislative efforts, stating, "For this exact reason, I introduced the Road to Recovery Act which reauthorizes lifesaving resources vital to addressing opioid addiction and substance abuse across the country. This bill passed the House of Representatives, and I am hopeful that it will be signed into law."

Regarding President Biden's address, Rep. James criticized the content, saying, "Congress and Americans were lied to and gaslit for nearly two hours tonight. The American people are not dumb—but Joe Biden thinks we are. We know the facts; that under Joe Biden, their wallets are lighter, costs have soared, our streets are less safe, and our enemies no longer fear us."

Rep. James further pointed out statistics, mentioning, "Since Biden took office, inflation has risen by 17.9%, electricity costs are up 28.6%, Rent is up 19.5%, and 8.7 million illegal immigrants have entered our nation." He expressed disappointment in the lack of proposed solutions from the President, stating, "I was hoping to hear solutions from the President, but unfortunately, all I heard were blatant lies and an attempt to shift blame elsewhere. The American people are seeing and feeling the impacts of Biden’s policies. We are not believing the lies any longer."
