Washington, D.C. – This week marked Rep. John James’ first 100 days in Congress representing communities of southern Macomb County, Rochester, and Rochester Hills. He has boldly taken on the issues most important to constituents.

“I am proud that from Day One, both our D.C. and district offices were up and running, serving constituents,” Rep. James said. “I have led a bipartisan, bicameral effort to invest in Selfridge and not stopped advocating since. I have led amendments to protect and grow our domestic manufacturing and to establish a parents’ bill of rights to make sure schools support healthy kids and healthy families. I look forward to what more we can do for constituents over the next 100 days.”

Among the congressman’s biggest achievements is the passage of H.R. 1—Republicans’ energy bill—which incorporated his amendment to re-shore minerals vital to our national defense, thereby reducing our dependence on the Chinese Communist Party. Likewise, the Parents Bill of Rights passed with two of his amendments: one protecting parents’ right to review their child’s curriculum without having to sign a nondisclosure agreement and another affirming a parent’s right to be made aware of any issues at school that concern a child’s mental and physical health and safety.

Rep. James led a bipartisan, bicameral resolution reaffirming his support for Selfridge Air National Guard Base and calling for additional investment in the base. He also spearheaded a bipartisan effort to protect the Great Lakes from a proposed Canadian nuclear waste facility.

Finally, Rep. James introduced his very first piece of legislation, which explicitly protected Medicare and Social Security from potential cuts during debt ceiling negotiations and upholds our promise to seniors.

Team James has been hard at work on the home front, as well. Our Warren office has been open since day one and staff have been helping residents secure passports, pitch bill ideas, and navigate bureaucracies. Recently, our caseworker met with a constituent and veteran who had run into issues receiving his VA benefits due to the seriousness of his disability. We were able to get him the money he earned in backpay and secure the amount he is owed going forward.
