Announcement

Warren Consolidated Schools issued the following announcement on Dec. 15.

Pearl Lean Elementary, a student reported a written note, threatening the principal, found in a classroom bathroom.  After a very brief investigation of the class, the student who reported the threat confessed to writing it and now has been referred to the Warren Police and to a discipline review panel.

In some good news, health officials have made an important change to the quarantine guidelines for schools.  Students who are exposed in school to COVID-19 may now stay in school if they provide a negative test result daily to their school for 7 days following the exposure.

In response, Warren Consolidated Schools, working with Northshore Clinical Labs, will provide FREE COVID testing to ALL families in the district.  Both Rapid antigen and PCR COVID testing will be provided to all individuals registered, including parents, students, staff, and family members.  All services are provided at no cost, and they will begin after the holiday break:

Testing sites opens: January 4, 2022.

Location: Angus Elementary - 3180 Hein Dr., Sterling Heights, MI 48310.

Days and Times: Monday - Friday - 2:30pm to 7:30pm & Sunday 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Also, in the last couple weeks, I have spoken with many parents about our districtwide security and crisis protocols that help keep our schools safe.  In each conversation, parents felt better once they had an understanding of ALL that we do.  With this letter, I have included information I thought you would find helpful on how we approach safety and security, staff training, and student mental health support, which are three very important parts to keeping our schools safe. Despite the difficulties we are facing, I am proud of our staff for committing to such a comprehensive approach to safety and security.

As always, please encourage your children to make good choices and to use their cell phones and social media responsibly – and hold them accountable when they don’t, because their future depends on it.
