The Burnette Branch Library announced on Apr. 21 that it is inviting both experienced and aspiring gardeners to join its Community Garden Club for the 2026 growing season. The club will meet behind the library at the raised garden beds, with no prior gardening experience required.
The initiative aims to bring together residents of all ages to participate in planting, tending, and harvesting activities throughout the spring and summer months. Organizers suggest that children be at least five years old to participate and recommend attendees bring gloves, a water bottle, and sun protection.
According to the announcement, scheduled meetings will take place primarily on Saturdays: May 2 at 9:30 a.m. for garden bed cleanup and direct seed sowing; May 20 (a Wednesday) at 2:00 p.m. for planting day; June 27 at 9:30 a.m. for weeding and maintenance; July 25 at 9:30 a.m. for weeding and harvesting; and August 29 at 9:30 a.m., also focused on weeding and harvesting. All sessions are weather permitting.
Registration is required to participate in the club’s activities. Interested individuals can register online or by calling the library directly.
